Start of School

There is no supervision in the playground before school. To help ensure the safety of the children it is important that the children are not on the school premises too early in the morning. Children who enter the school grounds more than 10 minutes before the start of the school day should be under the direct supervision of an adult.

Little Joe's provide before and afterschool activity clubs during term-time. You can find more information on the BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL page.

The school doors open at 8:50am.

To facilitate a smooth start to the school day, and to ensure we fulfil our responsibility to keep your children safe, the security doors around school are closed at 9am, after the children have entered school with their teacher. The school bells are rung on both playgrounds shortly before this time so that the children can line up and be brought into school in an orderly way, ready to start the day promptly.

End of school

Key Stage 1 staff dismiss the children onto the KS1 playground at the end of the school day and remain with the children until they are collected by an adult. Key Stage 2 children are dismissed from the classrooms with Key Stage 2 staff supervising the cloakrooms. All children should be collected from the playground by a responsible adult. If parents are unavoidably delayed it is very important that they phone the school office as soon as possible to let us know they will be late.

All parents and pupils should leave the playground by 3.45pm. The playground gates will be locked at 3.45pm each day to ensure safeguarding of the pupils attending after school activities.

Parking

We are very fortunate in that we have the use of the church car park entrance when dropping off and collecting children. Please refrain from parking in the car park as it poses great danger to children walking through the car park.

Security

All external doors are locked during the school day but give easy exit to pupils in case of an emergency evacuation. During the school day access is confined to the main entrance.

Lunchtimes

Hot meals are provided on the school premises. We operate a choice system that offers a selection of three main courses (one of which is always vegetarian) and two desserts, usually including fresh fruit. Dinner money should be paid using our on-line payment system (Parentpay). Free school meals are available to some children. Contact the office for more details. We are a nut free school.

Alternatively children may bring packed lunches. We encourage parents to provide a healthy balanced meal. These should be brought in a named box/bag. Drinks should be brought in a plastic container. No glass bottles please. Two weeks written notice is required should you want to alter your child's lunchtime arrangements.

Water

We know that medical research shows that maintaining fluid levels in the body is very important to the well being of adults and children. Children are encouraged to bring a plastic bottle to school filled with water (not juice). The children are allowed free access to their water (except when the teacher is talking to the class).
