St Joseph's Catholic Primary School Harrogate, a Voluntary Academy

"Let all that you do be done in love." (1 Corinthians 16:14)

Welcome to St. Joseph’s Mini Vinnies

An integral part of the Catholic life of the school are the Mini Vinnies. The Mini Vinnies are quite literally mini St. Vincent de Paul’s. They come together to help those in need within their school community. Mini Vinnies introduce children to social justice issues, to the St Vincent de Paul Society and to living faith through action.

Harrogate District Foodbank October 2022

Thank you to the Year 1 families who have donated very generously to this terms Food Bank.

Mini Vinnie Mass 28th September 2023

Our 12 Mini Vinnies attended a special Diocesan Mini Vinnie Mass today at St Anne's Cathedral, Leeds. This also included a Commissioning Ceremony for the Mini Vinnies to start the year. The children really enjoyed the service celebrated by The Right Reverend Marcus Stock.

Good Shepherd Celebration

We were delighted to have the opportunity to attend the Good Shepherd Celebration at Leeds Cathedral on Friday 13th May.

The Cathedral was attended by Catholic Schools across the Diocese to present Bishop Marcus with the amount we raised for the Good Shepherd Appeal.

Olaf, our President and Sophie, the Vice President, had the honour of parading our school banner around the Cathedral with other schools. They also presented Bishop Marcus with a beautiful certificate detailing how much we raised and how we achieved this.

Bishop Marcus took time to listen and talk to the representatives of each school, which was a great honour.

The donations we have received so far have been phenomenal.  We are truly grateful to you all for supporting the community and for your kindness towards families in need of help.

Thank you very much for your generosity and we look forward to receiving donations during March from Year 5.

Friendship Group

The Mini Vinnies finally visited the Friendship Group after over 2 years.  They had an incredible amount of fun creating St Patrick Day cards, listening to some funny jokes and playing Boccia.  They met some amazing people and learnt so much about their lives. A fantastic afternoon was had by all and many hearts were touched by smiles and laughter.

Mission Together Assembly

Last week we had a wonderful visit from Claire Colleran from Mission Together to tell us all about our chosen Lenten charity. The children are invited to fill their red boxes with any spare change to help children in Malawi as part of our Catholic Social Teaching.

Harvest Assembly October 2021 led by the Mini Vinnies

The newly elected President Olaf , Vice President Sophie and Mini Vinnies led Harvest assembly. They did an amazing job. A representative from Harrogate Food bank came to explain what they do and how crucial our donations are to them. Year 1 collected food donations during the month of October.
