French Skills and Progression Map 2023-2024
At St. Joseph’s Primary School, the children will learn to understand and respond to spoken and written French. We use ‘Mr French’ to teach this subject across KS2. The children learn to speak with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity, finding ways of communicating what they want to say, including through discussion and asking questions, and continually improving the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation. As they progress through key stage 2, our children will be able to write at varying length, for different purposes and audiences, using the variety of grammatical structures that they have learnt.
