Support for Siblings of Children with Additional Needs
At St Joseph's, we know that when a child has additional needs, SEND, a serious illness, or experiences bereavement, the impact is often felt across the whole family. Brothers and sisters can sometimes take on extra responsibilities, experience a range of emotions, or simply benefit from time and support that is focused on them.
We would like to highlight The Sibling Group, a local Harrogate charity that supports children aged 5-16 who have a sibling with additional needs, SEND, a serious illness, or who has sadly passed away. The charity provides monthly sessions where children can meet others with similar experiences, enjoy fun activities, build friendships and take part in a range of age-appropriate opportunities in a safe and welcoming environment.
We are pleased to share information about this service as it may be helpful to some of our families, or to people within the wider community.
