We have had a fantastic start to the school year. The children have been exploring their new classroom and enjoying the new resources. We started this term by learning about our class saint, Saint Therese, by practising our counting and by painting wonderful self portraits.
This half term we have enjoyed visiting church for our class Mass and leading an assembly all about God’s wonderful world. We also learnt about the story of Noah’s Ark.
In maths we have been using the part whole model and learning number bonds to ten.
As part of our topic about animals, we have made clay hedgehogs, learnt about camouflage, painted pictures of animals and made our own homes for zoo animals.
In maths we have been learning to subtract one amount from another. We have practised partitioning numbers and enjoyed making shape models.
In English we have been learning to retell familiar stories.
This term we had a very special visit from The Harrogate Bus Company who named a bus after St Joseph’s!
As part of our topic on Superheroes, we made our own superhero masks, badges and snacks. Look at our healthy, super-food fruit kebabs. We found out about healthy eating and learnt about a balanced diet too.
We prepared for Christmas by joining together in acts of worship, making cards and decorations and performing our nativity ‘A King is Born’. We even had a visit from Santa!
