Beasts, leaves and wonderful imagination!
Beasts, patterns and creativity at Temple Newsam 🎨
Year 6 enjoyed a fascinating visit to Temple Newsam, where history and art came together in a day of discovery.
Exploring the house, the children looked closely at the animals, plants and intricate patterns woven into its décor. From unusual creatures in carved details to beautiful botanical designs, there was inspiration all around us!
The children then developed their own ideas through chalk drawing, printing and clay modelling, experimenting with shape, texture and pattern.
Alongside their creative work, Year 6 explored connections with our local history and discovered how a historic house can tell stories through its decoration. A wonderful opportunity for our young artists to look carefully, think imaginatively and create something of their own!
