Year 1 Blog

My name is Mrs. Hardy, I am new to St Joseph’s this year and I am very excited to be a part of the community. I live in Harrogate with my husband and our two daughters, we enjoy visiting new places and exploring the outdoors together. I love being a teacher and feel it is a privilege to be able to help a child grow and learn. I look forward to getting to know everyone at St Joseph’s.

Hello, my name is Mrs Dalby and I’m really excited to be teaching in Year One with Mrs Hardy this year. We are very lucky in Year One to have a fabulous new classroom and a lovely outdoor area which we can’t wait share with the children. My favourite subjects are English and art and I’m looking forward to linking the two together as we explore different texts and topics.
We have had a fantastic start to the new term in Year One and the children are settling in well. I am looking forward to getting to know the children and having lots of fun in the year ahead.

Class 1 Collective Worship

We have enjoyed using the equipment in gymnastics. We worked hard to create different movements and balances.

In November we made poppies to wear on Remembrance Day.

In Year 1 we do daily phonics sessions.  Here are some photos of us having fun learning in the sunshine.

World Book Day 2017

We had a fun and exciting day celebrating World Book Day. We enjoyed learning about our favourite books, making book worms and watching a magic show!

The Station of the Cross Reflective Afternoon

Year 1 Collective Worship

We had a lovely day at Harlow Carr Gardens. We spent the day learning about plants and planting seeds.

The children have worked very hard in their writing. Here is Maisie celebrating her writing.

We all had a fantastic time during Sports Week. We learnt different skills and found new ways to keep healthy and active. ''I have enjoyed Sports Week. Especially gymnastics.'' Poppy.
