Extra Curricular Activities
St. Joseph’s is a one form entry school and we are very fortunate in having a committed staff who give their time freely to offer a variety of educational experiences for children beyond the classroom, such as craft club. We also have external providers who are qualified and extremely skilled in leading specific interests in clubs after school. This also is a great way to make links with the local community groups and businesses.
These activities are offered, to pupils in Years 1 - 6 and children look forward eagerly to the time when they can take advantage of all that the school has to offer.
Every child is given the opportunity to belong to groups in which they show an interest; there is no selection process.
Clubs to be offered during this year vary from term to term.
We currently offer:
- Zumba/Dance with Lauren
- Choir with Mr Pipe,
- Gymnastics with coaches from Harrogate Gymnastics Club
- Performing Arts club with Mr Roberts
Drama and Music
Fostering the drama and musical talents of our children is of importance to our school. This is achieved both through the curriculum and extra-curricular activities. Children throughout the school prepare for, and take part in, various musical performances to support their spiritual life and their participation in performing arts through music sessions and drama sessions with Mr Robert's.
We currently have peripatetic teachers from North Yorkshire Local Authority delivering weekly tuition sessions in a selection of wind, string and percussion instruments.
We encourage those with an interest in choral singing to join our school choir which is led by Leeds Diocese Music Services.
Our choir often lead the singing at school masses and visit local community and parish groups throughout the school year.
